HVAC marketing ideas that fill the schedule, not the inbox

Most HVAC marketing advice is a list of forty tactics. You need six, done properly: the listing, the split between emergency and replacement, town pages, reviews, follow up, and a number you can check.

HVAC marketing ideas that fill the schedule, not the inbox

Search for HVAC marketing ideas and you get lists of forty tactics: start a podcast, sponsor a little league team, try TikTok. Some of that is fine. None of it is what makes the phone ring in week one of a heat wave.

Here is the short list that does, roughly in order of how fast it pays.

1. Work the Google listing like it is a job site

The map pack takes the no-heat and no-cool calls, and your Google Business Profile decides whether you are in it. Primary category set to what you most want called for, service area matching where you actually roll trucks, photos from real installs, every service listed. Most HVAC listings were set up once years ago and never touched. An afternoon here beats a month of social posts.

2. Split emergency from replacement

A dead furnace at midnight and a changeout shopped for two months are different customers on different pages. The emergency page is for someone who is not reading: phone number, service area, done. The replacement page is for someone comparing financing, efficiency ratings and warranties. One page trying to do both jobs does neither.

3. Get found in every town you serve, not just your own

Google answers from where the searcher stands. You can rank first at your shop and be invisible three towns over, which is why we measure with a rank grid instead of one search. The fix is a real page for each town you want work in. We wrote about the grid effect here.

4. Reviews on every job, not just the memorable ones

A request after every service call, sent as a text with a direct link. Volume and recency both count, and steady beats occasional.

5. Text back the calls you miss

Half your calls come while your techs are in attics and crawl spaces. A missed call that gets a text back in seconds usually holds. A missed call that rings out goes to the next name on the list.

6. Watch one number

Not impressions or clicks. Where you rank, town by town, and how many calls and forms came in. If a tactic does not move that, drop it.

What about ads?

Google Ads can work as a faster layer on top of this, especially in peak season. As a replacement for it, ads are a treadmill: the calls stop the day the spend stops. Build the organic base first, then add ads where the math works.

The whole system above is what we build and run for HVAC companies. The full playbook, including exactly what it costs and one question most agencies will not answer honestly, is on our HVAC SEO page. Or start with the free audit and see where you rank in every town you serve.
