Maintenance work fills the trucks and design build work pays the bigger bills. Here is how to market both sides of a landscaping company without doubling your workload.

Landscaping marketing has to serve two very different businesses. Weekly maintenance is a route business: recurring, local, and won on reliability. Design build is a project business: high ticket, compared for months, and won on photos. Marketing that treats them as one thing sells neither one well.
The most profitable maintenance customer is the one next door to an existing customer. That means your marketing should aim at specific streets and towns rather than a whole county. That takes a real page for each town on your route, a Google Business Profile with the service area set accurately, and reviews that name the neighborhood. When three houses on one street use you, the fourth is the cheapest customer you'll ever win.
Nobody spends five figures on a patio from a text only website. You need before and after photos, organized by project type, with enough of them to show you're established. This is also the work that deserves a page per service: paver patios, retaining walls, irrigation and landscape lighting. Each one is its own search, and most competitors lump them all into one services page.
A maintenance visitor wants to know your route, your reliability and a price range. A design build visitor wants the gallery and the process. Separate pages convert both. One page converts neither, and your quote requests arrive half qualified.
Exterior work has a real off season, and spending the same amount on marketing every month wastes part of the budget. Winter is when the ranking work should happen, because the pages you build in January are the ones that rank in April when everyone starts searching. Plan to have the coverage in place by March.
Send a review request after every visit cycle, and send a text back on every missed call. Route businesses depend on retention and referrals, and both of those are driven by reviews.
If your company also does tree removal and trimming, those jobs are separate searches too. Our tree service marketing page covers how we handle them.
All of this is the system we build and run for landscaping companies, and the proof is live: MC Outdoor Services runs on a site we built, covering four central New Jersey counties.
