The most common way these sites get built, and what it means for you two years in.
Most home service websites are WordPress. It is the default, it is flexible, and there are more people who can work on it than any other platform. None of that is a criticism.
The difference shows up later, in maintenance and in who has to think about it.
A WordPress build gives you a genuinely open platform. You can host it anywhere, hire almost anyone to work on it, and add a plugin for nearly anything you can think of.
The cost is upkeep. Core updates, theme updates, plugin updates and security patches all have to happen, and when a plugin conflict takes the site down at nine on a Friday, somebody has to be paid to fix it. Sites built cheaply on a page builder with fifteen plugins are also usually the slow ones on a phone, and speed is not a cosmetic issue when the customer is standing in a driveway on cell service.
We build in Webflow. There are no plugins to update, no security patches to chase, and hosting is handled by Webflow directly at $300 a year billed to you, not marked up through us.
The honest trade is that Webflow is a hosted platform. You can export the site, but you cannot host it in quite as many places as WordPress, and some very specialized functionality is easier on WordPress than on Webflow. If you need that, we will tell you.
