HVAC

Heating and cooling contractors doing installs and service calls.

HVAC
Overview

HVAC is two businesses wearing one uniform. The furnace that died in January, and the system replacement someone has been putting off for two years. One is urgent, the other is considered.

What gets in the way
  • Emergency calls go to whoever picks up, so ranking and answering both matter
  • Replacement quotes get shopped against two or three other companies
  • Maintenance plans are the profitable part and the hardest thing to sell online
  • Private equity backed competitors have real marketing budgets
  • Seasonal swings make cash flow unpredictable
What we do about it

Be the one they reach at midnight

Emergency pages, click to call, and a Google profile built to surface in urgent local searches.

Win the replacement quote

Financing, efficiency, and warranty answered on the page, so you are not explaining all of it from scratch in the driveway.

Sell the maintenance plan

A real page for it, plus automated reminders so renewals happen without a phone call from you.

Questions we get asked

The things that come up on almost every first call in this trade, answered the way we would answer them on the phone.

Emergency and replacement are completely different sells. How does one site handle both?

Emergency gets click to call and your hours above the fold, because that person is not reading. Replacement gets financing, efficiency ratings, warranty terms, and a quote request, because that person is comparing. Different pages, different urgency, different measures of success.

Maintenance plans are my best margin and my hardest sell. Any help there?

A real page for the plan with what is included and what it costs, plus automated renewal reminders. Most contractors only ever sell plans in the driveway, which caps them at whoever you happened to visit that week.

Private equity backed competitors have real marketing budgets. Where do I win?

Locally. They optimize at the brand level and their individual location profiles are usually neglected, because nobody at head office is answering questions on a Google listing in your town. A well run profile beats a national brand's afterthought more often than you would expect.

Should I list the brands I install?

Yes. People search for a brand plus "dealer near me", the competition on those terms is low, and the intent is high. Only list what you install, because the calls will come.

My cash flow swings hard with the season. Does the marketing spend have to?

The work does not stop being useful in the quiet months, because that is when next season's ranking gets built. But we would rather you go in expecting a slow February than be surprised by one, so we will say it plainly on the first call.

Can you promise me a certain number of calls a month?

No, and be careful with anyone who does before they have looked at your market. What we will give you every month is what your rankings, traffic, and call volume did, and what we changed because of it.
